Nothing in this house is hurried. A guitar leaves the workshop when it sings — and not one day before.
Antonio Vicente opened this workshop in 1932, twelve doors up the Cuesta de Gomérez, where the street climbs from Plaza Nueva toward the Alhambra. The tourists walk past on their way to the palace. The guitarists stop here.
Three luthiers work one bench today — a father and his two sons. Every top is tuned by tapping and listening, every rosette cut by hand, every finish laid on in whisper-thin coats of shellac. What you commission is not an instrument. It is a voice being decided.

The workshop keeps the old ways of the Granada school: soundboards aged under the roof for a decade, sides bent on a hot iron by feel, necks carved from a single piece of cedro. Fewer than thirty guitars leave the house each year.

Every guitar carries the house label inside the soundhole — the family mark, the year, its number in the book, and the hand of the man who built it. Nothing leaves without a name.
The craft · El oficio
Spruce, cypress and rosewood age under the workshop roof for ten years before a single cut. The wood decides when it is ready.
Hundreds of dyed veneer slivers are bundled, sliced and inlaid by hand into a mosaic no two guitars share.
The top is shaved to tenths of a millimetre, braced in the fan pattern of the old masters, and tuned by tap and ear.
Thin ribbons of wood are bent over a hot iron by hand and feel alone — the minute the wood relaxes, the shape is won.
Shellac is laid on in whisper-thin coats over weeks, rubbed out by palm — a finish that weighs nothing and hides nothing.
